Made from your choice of regular 3/4" aluminum or 5/8" skinnies all with a wooden core in each end to prevent heat transfer and add to the perfect weight. We use 3 feet of kevlar on our regular wicks with a typical barrel wrap attachment. For staffs 3 ft and under we use 2" kevlar tape and 3'3" and above we use 3" wick. It is not recomended to used 5/8" aluminum on staffs that are 4 ft or longer as it more likely to bend than the 3/4". All of our staffs are wrapped with a super absorbent grip and have a small indented center so you can always see and feel the middle of the staff (no indentations available upon request in custom box). Our anodized aluminum (colored shafts) only come in 3/4" and not in 5/8".
Length: When choosing a length keep in mind of several different types of double staff spinning that exist and which one you feel fits your flow best. Short staffs are around the length of your arm from finger tips to shoulder. They are used for lots of isolation tricks and moves that require mobility on the "inside plane". People who like these staffs usually already know they like it and are less common in beginners due to the fire being so close. Medium length doubles are very common and are just about twice the distance of your wrist to your shoulder muscle. This measurement allows you to still do some inside planes but also gives length and momentum to your staffs so the flow can come more naturally. For beginners we recommend this measurement. Long double staff are longer than twice the distance between your wrist and shoulder muscle. These staffs are nearly too long for inside planes (unless maneuvered like a monkey) and are much more common for people interested in double contact staff.
